Abstract

<jats:title>A<jats:sc>bstract</jats:sc> </jats:title> <jats:p>A binned Dalitz plot analysis of <jats:italic>B</jats:italic> <jats:sup>±</jats:sup> → <jats:italic>DK</jats:italic> <jats:sup>±</jats:sup> decays, with <jats:italic>D</jats:italic> → <jats:italic>K</jats:italic> <jats:sub>S</jats:sub> <jats:sup>0</jats:sup> <jats:italic>π</jats:italic> <jats:sup>+</jats:sup> <jats:italic>π</jats:italic> <jats:sup>−</jats:sup> and <jats:italic>D</jats:italic> → <jats:italic>K</jats:italic> <jats:sub>S</jats:sub> <jats:sup>0</jats:sup> <jats:italic>K</jats:italic> <jats:sup>+</jats:sup> <jats:italic>K</jats:italic> <jats:sup>−</jats:sup>, is used to perform a measurement of the <jats:italic>CP</jats:italic>-violating observables <jats:italic>x</jats:italic> <jats:sub>±</jats:sub> and <jats:italic>y</jats:italic> <jats:sub>±</jats:sub>, which are sensitive to the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle <jats:italic>γ</jats:italic>. The analysis is performed without assuming any <jats:italic>D</jats:italic> decay model, through the use of information on the strong-phase variation over the Dalitz plot from the CLEO collaboration. Using a sample of proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb experiment in 2015 and 2016, and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0 fb<jats:sup>−1</jats:sup>, the values of the <jats:italic>CP</jats:italic> violation parameters are found to be <jats:italic>x</jats:italic> <jats:sub>−</jats:sub> = (9.0 ± 1.7 ± 0.7 ± 0.4) × 10<jats:sup>−2</jats:sup>, <jats:italic>y</jats:italic> <jats:sub>−</jats:sub> = (2.1 ± 2.2 ± 0.5 ± 1.1) × 10<jats:sup>−2</jats:sup>, <jats:italic>x</jats:italic> <jats:sub>+</jats:sub> = (−7.7 ± 1.9 ± 0.7 ± 0.4) × 10<jats:sup>−2</jats:sup>, and <jats:italic>y</jats:italic> <jats:sub>+</jats:sub> = (−1.0 ± 1.9 ± 0.4 ± 0.9) × 10<jats:sup>−2</jats:sup>. The first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is due to the uncertainty (on the strong-phase measurements. These values are used to obtain γ = (87 <jats:sub>− 12</jats:sub> <jats:sup>+ 11</jats:sup> )<jats:sup>∘</jats:sup>, <jats:italic>r</jats:italic> <jats:sub> <jats:italic>B</jats:italic> </jats:sub> = 0.086 <jats:sub>− 0.014</jats:sub> <jats:sup>+ 0.013</jats:sup> , and <jats:italic>δ</jats:italic> <jats:sub> <jats:italic>B</jats:italic> </jats:sub> = (101±11)°, where <jats:italic>r</jats:italic> <jats:sub> <jats:italic>B</jats:italic> </jats:sub> is the ratio between the suppressed and favoured <jats:italic>B</jats:italic>-decay amplitudes and δ<jats:sub> <jats:italic>B</jats:italic> </jats:sub> is the corresponding strong-interaction phase difference. This measurement is combined with the result obtained using 2011 and 2012 data collected with the LHCb experiment, to give γ = (80 <jats:sub>− 9</jats:sub> <jats:sup>+ 10</jats:sup> )<jats:sup>∘</jats:sup>, <jats:italic>r</jats:italic> <jats:sub> <jats:italic>B</jats:italic> </jats:sub> = 0.080 ± 0.011, and <jats:italic>δ</jats:italic> <jats:sub> <jats:italic>B</jats:italic> </jats:sub> = (110 ± 10)°. </jats:p>
