Abstract

The polarization state and beam shape of an ultrafast laser have been dynamically controlled using a spatial light modulator (SLM) with an additional S-waveplate (Altechena) for applications in material processing. Consequently, two different advanced states of polarization, radial and azimuthal, several star beam shapes were dynamically switched while synchronized with a motion control system. Imprinting laser induced plasmonic periodic surface structures(LIPSS) was employed to investigate the detailed vector fields at the image plane. The ablation footprint was found to match the selected beam shape and polarization states acurately.
