Abstract

<jats:p>Abstract This study analyzes the impact of macroeconomic and financial variables on retirement decisions. Socio-demographic characteristics such as gender, age and level of education are considered. The unemployment rate is used as macroeconomic variable and the stock market and oil prices as financial variables. Special attention is given to oil prices. It is concluded that macroeconomic and financial variables have an impact mainly in the long term and that the number of new pensioners increases when oil prices decrease. Keywords: Financial effect, macroeconomic effect, petroleum prices, retirement decisions Resumen Este estudio analiza el impacto de las variables macroeconómicas y financieras en la conducta del retiro por características sociodemográficas. Las características sociodemográficas consideradas son género, edad y nivel de escolaridad. Como variable macroeconómica se utiliza la tasa de desempleo y como variables financieras el índice de precios de bolsa y precios del petróleo. La atención se enfoca en los precios del petróleo. Se concluye que las variables macroeconómicas y financieras tiene un impacto principalmente a largo plazo y que el número de nuevos pensionados se incrementa cuando los precios de petróleo decrecen.
