Abstract
An invited contribution, this piece explores the European Court of Human Rights decision in the case of El-Masri, who was extraordinarily rendered in a case of mistaken identity. The post argues that the decision in the El-Masri case was a step in the right direction in condemning and seeking accountability for some counter-terrorism practices during the years of the CIA’s ‘high value detainee’ program, which included extraordinary rendition.
