Abstract

© 2019 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Advances in internet technologies have spurred global growth in manufacturing on an unprecedented scale. Distributed global manufacturing requires these industries to support flexible, large scale automation to meet dynamically changing user requirements and to allow interconnection for data exchange between various components of the manufacturing enterprise. The proceeding needs are addressed with design of Networked Manufacturing Systems (NMS) anchored in Industry 4.0. In this paper, we address the requirements for and the salient features of the design of NMS illustrated using an automotive panel stamping process.
