Abstract

<jats:title>A<jats:sc>bstract</jats:sc> </jats:title> <jats:p>Inclusive J<jats:italic>/ψ</jats:italic> production is studied in minimum-bias proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of <jats:inline-formula> <jats:alternatives> <jats:tex-math>$$ \sqrt{s} $$</jats:tex-math> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:msqrt> <mml:mi>s</mml:mi> </mml:msqrt> </mml:math> </jats:alternatives> </jats:inline-formula> = 5<jats:italic>.</jats:italic>02 TeV by ALICE at the CERN LHC. The measurement is performed at mid-rapidity (<jats:italic>|y| &lt;</jats:italic> 0<jats:italic>.</jats:italic>9) in the dielectron decay channel down to zero transverse momentum <jats:italic>p</jats:italic> <jats:sub>T</jats:sub>, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of <jats:italic>L</jats:italic> <jats:sub>int</jats:sub> = 19<jats:italic>.</jats:italic>4 <jats:italic>±</jats:italic> 0<jats:italic>.</jats:italic>4 nb<jats:sup> <jats:italic>−</jats:italic>1</jats:sup>. The measured <jats:italic>p</jats:italic> <jats:sub>T</jats:sub>-integrated inclusive J<jats:italic>/ψ</jats:italic> production cross sec- tion is d<jats:italic>σ/</jats:italic>d<jats:italic>y</jats:italic> = 5<jats:italic>.</jats:italic>64 <jats:italic>±</jats:italic> 0<jats:italic>.</jats:italic>22(stat.) <jats:italic>±</jats:italic> 0<jats:italic>.</jats:italic>33(syst.) <jats:italic>±</jats:italic> 0<jats:italic>.</jats:italic>12(lumi.) <jats:italic>μ</jats:italic>b. The <jats:italic>p</jats:italic> <jats:sub>T</jats:sub>-differential cross section d<jats:sup>2</jats:sup> <jats:italic>σ/</jats:italic>d<jats:italic>p</jats:italic> <jats:sub>T</jats:sub>d<jats:italic>y</jats:italic> is measured in the <jats:italic>p</jats:italic> <jats:sub>T</jats:sub> range 0–10 GeV<jats:italic>/c</jats:italic> and compared with state-of- the-art QCD calculations. The J<jats:italic>/ψ</jats:italic> 〈<jats:italic>p</jats:italic> <jats:sub>T</jats:sub>〉 and <jats:inline-formula> <jats:alternatives> <jats:tex-math>$$ \left\langle {p}_{\mathrm{T}}^2\right\rangle $$</jats:tex-math> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mfenced> <mml:msubsup> <mml:mi>p</mml:mi> <mml:mi>T</mml:mi> <mml:mn>2</mml:mn> </mml:msubsup> </mml:mfenced> </mml:math> </jats:alternatives> </jats:inline-formula> are extracted and compared with results obtained at other collision energies.</jats:p>
