Abstract

Drawing on the literature around deterrence theory, this paper will focus on the international efforts to counter-dark web marketplace crime. In particular, the paper will analyse the extent to which legislation and successful investigations have had a deterrent effect, and conclude how a greater understanding of, and focus on, deterrence theory would assist in reducing the prevalence of Dark Web Marketplace crime.
