Abstract

An approach for synthesizing E-field with phase stirring technique in a reverberation chamber is proposed. By applying the excitation to multiple antennas, power can be combined in a reverberation chamber rather than in a power combiner. The proposed method presents a cost-effective solution for generating strong E-field in a reverberation chamber. In addition, for the excitation of multiple antennas, the phase stirring technique can be applied and the number of independent samples can be increased significantly. The proposed approach combines the phased array technology with the reverberation chamber technology, realizing the spatial E-field synthesis and phase control inside the cavity by using multiple excitation sources. When synthesizing the high intensity radiated field, the power capacity requirement for each amplifier can be greatly reduced. The theory is given and measurements are performed to verify the results.
