Abstract

Advancements in autonomous vehicle (AV) technology highlight its potential for last-mile delivery, but concerns about its reliability and consumer privacy security underscore the need to understand consumer acceptance of the innovative AV-driven autonomous delivery service (ADS). Our study examines how individual technology readiness (TR) influences ADS acceptance within the Behavioral Reasoning Theory framework. TR traits like innovativeness and discomfort impact both positive and negative reasoning for ADS acceptance. Younger individuals exhibit stronger TR motivators and weaker inhibitors, while higher education correlates with stronger TR motivators. This research offers valuable insights into last-mile delivery innovation acceptance.
