Abstract

This presentation provides an overview of the project STRIVE (Simulation Tools for Rapid Innovation in Vehicle Engineering). The project has the vision to establish a new digital supply chain to underpin manufacturing for the 21st century. With the support of a leading UK automotive manufacturer, this will directly contribute to the future development of a globally competitive luxury vehicle manufacturing supply chain. The proposed programme integrates innovative technologies that have the potential to provide a revolutionary ‘step change’ to UK automotive manufacturing, helping create critical mass for a new UK digital supply chain. Government funding is needed for R&D in this area as developing an integrated infrastructure around new ‘digital’ toolsets carries a high risk, especially for SMEs. However, the benefits of the approach are potentially UK manufacturing as a whole. This project also complements the government’s vision to create a globally competitive UK e- infrastructure.
